North Korea launched a test nuke?
So you’re probably aware by now. CNN is reporting that North Korea has tested its nukes.
The U.S. Geological Survey website recorded a light 4.2-magnitude earthquake in North Korea at 10:35 a.m., about 385 kilometers (240 miles) northeast of the North Korean capital, Pyongyang.
South Korean intelligence officials said a seismic wave of magnitude-3.58 had been detected in North Hamkyung province, according to Yonhap.
“The nuclear test was conducted with indigenous wisdom and technology 100 percent. It marks a historic event as it greatly encouraged and pleased the KPA (Korean People’s Army) and people that have wished to have powerful self-reliant defense capability,” KCNA reported.
OK folks, I don’t mean to spew FUD but this could be the beginning of the end.

Kinda scary thinking about something like that happening, but at the same time. We have them so why not others.

Wow.. now that is a scary comment

I agree it’s scary. Brandy, with that thinking, you would have given Hitler nuclear weapons. You’d be okay with that?
It’s one thing for a democratic society to posess these weapons, and an altogether different thing in the hands of a dictator. North Korea calls itself a communist-led democratic republic, but it functions as a dictatorship.
This is the same country that has demonized the US as the ultimate threat to its social system.

No… I am not saying that everyone should have a nuclear weapon. What I am saying is that it is scary knowing that others have them. For example… If North Korea was the only country with nukes we’d be the ones afriad, and we’d want our own nukes too. Well thats how N. Korea feels, they are afriad, and they want a supply of their own, just incase. I don’t think they are planning an invasion or war against anyone, but just being prepared incase they need them. I would feel a lot safer if no one had them, but trust me on this… The U.S. will only ever stop making and using nukes unless a more powerful weapon is made in its stead, I can’t blame the little guys for fearing that knowledge.

But the world knows that North Korea doesnt just want Insurance. You dont think that North Korea would love to control South Korea again.
Randac is right, This is like saying it would have been ok for Hitler to use Nuclear weapons.
North Korea is a country that doesnt even value the lives of its own people, why would the world trust this nation it such a powerful weapon. It is the same reason no one wants Iran to develop Nuclear weapons

You’re speaking as if its right for the U.S. to use nukes!!!!!! Its not right for anyone to use them. They kill massive amount of lives and destory entire cities and countries. No one should use them, not even the U.S.
I think that North Korea wants to rule South Korea just as much as the U.S. wants to rule Iraq.

You speaking as if the U.S. uses Nuclear Weapons on a monthly basis. I truly believe in the U.S. would be just fine we no one ever uses these weapons.
The U.S. Doesnt rule Iraq. They have helped establish a goverment there, but North Korea is a communist Nation that rules with an iron fist.
Please dont confuse the from of governing of the U.S. with that of the North Korea.

“The U.S. Doesnt rule Iraq. They have helped establish a goverment there…”
Yes we did help “establish” a government, so when is our departure date? When did we leave after saying a good job well done? We still haven’t, and all these other countries like North Korea are thinking, the U.S. is going to hit Iran next, and the rest of the middle east, and then they are gonna come after us next, so we better defend ourselves.
So until I see U.S. forces not using dominate force on another country I’m gonna think that we rule that country. We dominate it, we control what happens to it, because we put ourselves in that position when we destroyed the government it had in place. Yes Iraq’s goverment was corrupt and not good, and someone did need to step in since the people were too afriad to step up to the challenge, but in the end, were still there, and the people of Iraq aren’t.
The U.S. does use nukes every month, probably every day in some way or another, either making them, testing them, or using them.

I am sure the United States continue to update their nuclear arsenal, but they do not test or use them on a regualer basis. I believe it is against international law to test Nuclear Weapons (See North Korea).
“but in the end, were still there, and the people of Iraq aren’t.”
Of course the Iraqi People are in Iraq, who else would be living there.
The Bush Administration will not make the mistake of attacking another country without some form of a alliance formed with the neighboring countries, of course that is just my opinion
I cant say when we will leave Iraq, I honestly dont believe even the military knows when the plan to leave is.

What I meant by saying ““but in the end, were still there, and the people of Iraq aren’t.”” is that, were the ones in power in Iraq, and the people of Iraq are not, of course they have a president and whatever, but I don’t think he’s the one really making all the decisions.

I think this incident is really going to help the Republicans win in the midterm elections. I have heard some demoncrats today trying to say they “always” have supported missle defense and they are getting laughed off the mike.
I think this reminds people about Iraq and makes them wonder if we had not invaded, would Iraq be launching there own test a few years from now….and what that would mean for us.
