Dallas, this weekend / Immigration Thoughts

Dallas was an interesting place this weekend. It was estimated that over 500,000 people protested on Ross Street. I half wish I was downtown on Sunday so I could have taken pictures of it. It would have been spectacular. I was elsewhere. My girlfriend and I were at the Trader’s Villiage in Grand Prairie (a suburb of Dallas). For those who thought all the hispanic people were downtown, you’re wrong. It just goes to show how much of a presence they have in this area. The picture above shows you what it looked like at Trader’s Villiage this weekend.

The two top Republicans in Congress, confronted with internal party divisions as well as large public demonstrations, said Tuesday they intend to pass immigration legislation that does not subject illegal aliens to prosecution as felons. GOOD. This country was founded by immigrants. Why should we start closing the door?

What kind of jail time can you get as a felon?

I agree! Besides which, Hispanic women are hot, so keep them here, LOL.

There is no way of removing all the illegal aliens in this country. Plus if we could, it would cripple the working population in Texas and California.

We might as well make tax money from them.

DItto - It depends on the felony committed. Some People do not serve time. If you are Martha Stewart you get 6 months in a hotel, and 6 months house arrest. Of Course there are people who did worse and got probation.

you realize its a felony to be an illegal immigrant in mexico right….you support the breaking of laws? this country was founded by immigrants. but last i checked that was 500 yrs ago when columbus sailed the ocean blue. i think times have changed personally. there are plenty of out of work legal citizens that can take the place of the illegals and do just a good a job. Not trying to get anything started on your site ramdac but just a couple things to think about.

So, make it a felony, and the problem will go away? Yeah, that really worked with drugs didn’t it?

well what were doing now doesn’t fix the problem either, so its like the government’s last safe resort. Nothing we do will end in nothing but good, so might as well make it harsh. (at least thats what some government officials think)

I think that the bill won’t pass because of the felony part, and then they will revise it and it will pass the second time around.

I somewhat agee cpg, but the problem is if you take the Illegals out of Texas there will not be enough legals willing to do the work. It would be nice if there were, but it just isnt true.

This country was founded on immigrants, but that doesnt mean we have still allow free pass into this country. Of course this bill is more out of a need than a want to. We do not have the man power to run them off or keep them out.
