Christmas in New York (December 2005)

This past Christmas (Dec. ‘05) I decided to get away for some R&R, much to the chagrin of my family. I had never been to New York City before, and I was a bit uneasy due to the transit strike. Luckily, the strike ended the day I was scheduled to fly out to NYC. I had a blast. I went to Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty, I went up to the top of the Empire State building, and I got to see Lion King at the New Amsterdam Theatre–it was amazing. I also hopped on those city bus tours and it was rather inciteful. I took a few pictures and one of the is a “velvia” shot taken from atop the Empire State Building–I hope you like.

I wanna go!
You get to go everywhere!
Was it expensive to stay there?
Better yet, were New Yorkers friendly, or were they pissy like some of the relocated New Yorkers down here in Florida?

$230 a night– stayed at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square. Also, the people were no different from the people here in Dallas.

Do they have a Motel 6 there, LOL?
Actually, you should spend next Christmas in Ruston. I and a few other former Rustonites whom you know had a brief reunion at the new Chiles on Dec. 26.

Funny. This was the first Christmas I’ve spent in Ruston since 2001.
But I would think New York wins when pitted against Ruston anyday.

You cant beat an exciting ruston Christmas complete with christmas tunes on KPCH and the occasional warm weather.

Not to mention Cane’s and Chili’s. Also, Ruston has a WAL-MART. That’s freakin awesome (</sarcasm>)

hold on now. Raisin Cane’s is fo real. Chili’s is ok, but you can’t beat those chicken strips
and …. it is a Super Wal-mart.

Lol…. in my progressing years… I find it less and less enjoyable to visit Ruston. They have more churches and small loan/paycheck cashing services than any town I’ve ever seen.
