Who’s this BEEWICK Cory anyway?

June 18th, 2005

It seems lately that everyone is fixated on this “BEEWICKCORY” issue. To bring you up to speed if you don’t know already, a guy named “Bewick Cory” used to post on this site. I didn’t always agree with what he had to say but I always liked that he felt the need to post comments, and even a couple of interesting politically-charged articles. I even saved a few stories he sent me. I haven’t posted them yet, but I might do it soon, just to honor his memory (if he is in fact dead). That’s right, there is some question to that.

A couple of weeks ago we started getting posts from a user called “BEEWICKCORY”. At first, I thought Beewick Cory was back. A couple days later, I got an email from this Doctor, Dr. Marlon Rene. He said that I had sunk to a new low allowing these posts from an imposter, and that Bewick had in fact died in Brazil.

Anyway, I was busy all week with work, and apparently some commenters thought I was trying to hide or protect the impostor. Some of you people need to realize I have a job and that maintaining this blog isn’t always my top priority.

I did some analyzing of the logs, and I came up some ideas about who the impostor(s) might be. I looked at the access logs and the IP addresses/browser signatures attached to the comments posted by BEEWICK. Here are the numbers:

Username Count of Posts IP Address Browser Signature
BEEWICKCORY 14 67.128.6*.* Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
BEEWICKCORY 4 68.206.17*.* Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
JoshM 2 67.128.6*.* Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2
JoshM 11 68.206.17*.* Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.6) Gecko/20050317 Firefox/1.0.2
JoshM 4 68.206.17*.* Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.7.7) Gecko/20050414 Firefox/1.0.3
ryanh 14 67.128.6*.* Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)
ryanh 13 68.206.17*.* Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; SV1; .NET CLR 1.1.4322)

(the IPs were slightly masked, but they are the same. I just didn’t want any ne’er do wells to try and hack these IP addresses)

These results seem to incriminate Ryanh. JoshM seems to be using Gecko while ryanh’s browser matches that of Bewick perfectly. This is fairly incriminating evidence. One of you should fess up :)

he he - Rats. I was planning on dragging this out a few more weeks before submitting my own article on the unveiling.

Joshm’s IP is the same because he works in the same office.

It made you laugh though :)

Feel free to post any questions.

I see that Ramduck has gone the way of the Bush Administration and is using his Nazi “Patriot Act” powers to seize private IP information! I am “appalled”!

    :)

*HA!* I R TEH KING OF HAXORS.

I figured it was one of you too all along. especially when Josh posted BEEWICK as one of his friends.
This whole thing has been pretty damn funny and I’ve had a few good laughs out of it.

Too bad the doctor still has his panties in a wad.

I figured you knew. I wasnt trying to hide my IP’s through proxys are anything :)

I did play around with the Google proxy for a while wondering how effective it would be, but when I tested it on my own site I could still trace it. So I figured I would go with it however long you let me. :)

Yeah, I didn’t figure you were. Today was the first chance I had to really look into it. I’ve been busy all week with work, as I stated earlier. However, some people took my lack of “timely response” as a measure to support the coverup. Whatever. I have a life.

    Okay, mystery resolved.

I just want proof that the original Bewick Cory is dead.

    Can we please have some?

Somehow the story about his death while fighting real estate developers in South America is a little too romanticized to be real.

And by the way, I just love how my imposter used the term “negro.”

That was suspicious in and of itself!

Everyone knows I refer to them as “colored.”

No way bewick cory is dead. There is WAY to much evidence showing otherwise.

    Hey everybody,

If you want to talk to bewick, post over here:

Or just read it if you want the latest bewick drama. Much more to come in the days ahead.

Also, bewick mailed in pictures of himself (not making this up) and we posted them.

This whole thing was retarded, you people cause too much cyber drama or whatever… to much for me… I’m too relaxed for this type of thing.

It was still a clever hoax!

Oh my gosh, did you hear? Kermit the Frog was killed protecting Miss Piggy from a legion of singing Muppet rats. The agony! What ever shall we do now?

By the way, Ramdac could’ve revealed your hoax at any time. He, like most web developers including myself, can easily track the isp info. It’s just a one or two liner in php, asp, or whatever language you decide to code in. I like knowing who is viewing my resume… helped me get a raise last year at work.

Ramdac DOES have a life. Give him some credit. I’m just happy he put all the effort into making this site smooth and sharp so we can all enjoy it. Thanks dude…

Yes, I am aware. I do a little web coding every now and then.

My orginal goal wasnt really to fool anyone, it was to poke fun at Bewicks posting style. I must say though, it is incrediably easy and fun to write like him.

I agree. Didn’t you mention your formula for copying his writing style? I forgot what it was exactly, but I remember it was funny.

The ancient art of bewick impersonation is passed down master to pupil.

In respect for dark samuari bewick, I shame him no more. At least, not now.

Once he returns to ramdac-land from his banishment, we resume if fitting.

I tell you what I am really impressed. I would have swore Beewick was bewick right at first. It was a perfect match. You really pulled some stuff he said way back in that original post.

That, my friend, is no conspiracy “theory”. Our “Commander & Chief” flew alright. . .flew the coop, so-to-speak, so that he wouldn’t get shot at in Vietnam. Having a daddy with $$$ and power can sure come in handy when you’re in a fix.
