The new camera and lens

April 26th, 2005

Well, I did it. What have I done? I finally jumped into the digital SLR market. I bought Canon’s
Digital Rebel (300D). It’s 6.3 megapixels, so that comes out to something bigger than 3000×2400. That’s plenty big for me.

That’s not it though. I couldn’t stop there. I decided that since I was going to the FC Dallas football (see “soccer”) games,
I should get a telephoto zoom lens to take decent pictures of action on the pitch (see “field). It’s a rather sizely lens, but it’ll be worth it.
The equipment is due here in a couple of days, and I can hardly wait. After I take a few decent pictures, I’ll probably start a gallery site, where I’ll feature the work.

This is great! I know everyone here is excited to see your photo’s… I know I am… and I’m sure Joey is too!

I can’t say that Soccer photo’s excite me, or the game itself… but I can say that I’d still like to see them and I’d appreciate them.

Of course I’ll be very excited to see anyother photos you may take.

Well, the soccer photos will help me with two things. Getting practice using this telephoto lens and practice getting “action” shots.

Yeah, you need some help getting some action, ;-)

Jim? Do you mean action, like I think you mean action? Cause that means your saying something on his own grounds… it being his website…How bold!

Maybe for some people… Soccer action is all they need? However… I don’t think ramdac is that kind of person…

To just thrive alone on soccer action… is a geeked out type of person… and I can’t say that ramdac is geeked out.

No you can’t. I’m not geeked out.

However, FC Dallas has two players on its team who play for their national teams. This isn’t an “expansion” team. We have Eddie Johnson who plays for the US National Team, and Carlos Ruiz who plays for the Guatemala National team. For those who don’t know why the national teams are important– These “national teams” are what compete for the world cup of soccer.

Think of it this way. Lets say there was an NFL for every country in the world. Every region would have a regional superbowl, and those winners would play each other until 2 teams stood. That’s how it is for soccer, roughly. …i won’t go into the details. My roommate knows them better than me anyway.

(continued from previous post)….Needless to say, the FC dallas team isn’t a chump team. there’s a reason I want to take pictures of them–they’re good, and they have a chance to win it all this year.

I wouldn’t care for NFL pictures either… so that analogy doesn’t work well for me… so try baseball next time.

“No you can’t. I’m not geeked out.”
    I didn’t say it for a good reason… A very good reason!

There are many famous football pictures out there, so lets not pretend Soccer is better than NFL.
