Michael Irvin arrested, again

November 27th, 2005

Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his vehicle during a traffic stop, police said Sunday.

was arrested on an outstanding warrant for speeding in Irving after being pulled over Friday afternoon for speeding in Plano, the Plano Police Department said. Police spokesman Mike Johnson said he didn’t know what kind of paraphernalia was found.

Irvin paid a fine on the speeding ticket and posted bond on the drug paraphernalia possession charge. He was released about an hour after he was pulled over.

I hope ESPN allows him to continue his studio analyst position–I think he’s funny on the air.

I read online that it was a pipe that they found in his car. He told the press that he found it in his house from his friends and put it in the car to hide it from his kids. I think that he should have thrown it away right away.

I do not believe that crap about putting it in his car to hide it from his kids so that he could throw it away later. I think that he was involved with it, and probably used it. Just take responsibility for your actions and deal with it. People will still watch him on t.v. and people will always love his football career.

I have had a hard time posting a message today for technical reasons.

Anyway, Bad Boy behavior among athletes is one reason why many people are being turned away from professional sports.

My last post was only half of what I was going to say so I cut it in half.
Heres the rest, if it works.
Heres a great quote from Tommy Lasorda about Darryl Strawberrys substance abuse problems, which the reporter characterized as a disease.

Thats not a disease. Thats a weakness.

I wish more people in society took that attitude about alcoholism and drug abuse.
Instead, we take on the role of enablers by calling it a disease, lessening the degree of responsibility of people struggling with it.

Okay, for some reason anything I write with either quotation marks or apostrophes will not post……at least from my computer.

Ok, it should be fixed now. Sorry about all that. It’s a delicate thing juggling two databases–one that likes singleticks escaped like this: \’ and the other like this: ”

Micheal Irvin should take a drug test to prove his innocence. He said on ESPN last night that he was willing to do anything, but on Dan Patrick Radio show said he didnt feel he needed to take the test.

Why would he allow these demons around his children. I know you can’t just push your friends aside, but there is no way I would let that stuff around my kid.

Look, he did the drugs…. come on. But really, do I care? No, I don’t. I don’t look up to him as a person. I like him as an entertainer. If he wants to jack himself up and ruin his life… whatever man….
