I take Sirius quite seriously

October 20th, 2005

Maybe because it’s Howard, or maybe because I really like the idea of satellite radio. But today I went Siriusly-mad. I first bought a portable receiver so I can move about with it. I then bought a “home unit” base station for the office, so I could listen while at work. I also bought a car-unit and got it all installed. After that, I bought one of the boom boxes that Sirious sells, so I can listen at the house. It’s great. I can now listen to Howard Stern, classical music, sports radio, the news, and whateverthehell else I want to listen to, whenever I want. I love technology.

Say, do you remember that time when Stern had that group of strippers on his show and asked them about their sex lives?

Then he got them to take their tops off on the air?

And remember that time he aired all of those fart jokes?

If only he had more shows like that!

I can’t imagine why anyone could ever want to listen to Howard Stern for any reason. But then again, as long as people like fart jokes and total idiocy… he’ll go on. Wait.. I like fart jokes… but I can’t stand Howards Stern. What a waste of human space.

You guys obviously don’t know what Howard is about. Take today, for instance. The first hour and a half was devoted to Stevie Wonder’s music. Stevie was in the studio playing live. He was there to promote his new CD.

I don’t give two shits who’s hosting a show–if he’s got someone on like Stevie Wonder, I’m listening.

You guys need to give Howard a break. You can’t diss him unless you’ve listened to him for a while.

I used to watch Howard Stern, my dad hated it, but I’d stay up late all the time to watch it when I used to visit him for the summer. I liked it, but it wasn’t just sex like everyone thinks it is. However, the sex does help it along.

I’ve listened to 30 minutes of the show today already, and no mention of sex has been made. People exaggerate about the percentage of content is devoted to sex, and the like.

Oh, I’m not dissing Stern, and yes, I’ve spent the past year listening to him on a West Palm Beach station, the only place he can be heard in South Florida.

I moved close to Orlando a month ago, and can’t hear him anymore.

I actually listened everyday on my morning commute and loved the stupid questions Stuttering John would ask celebrities

Stuttering John to Buddy Ebsen (Jed on Beverly Hillbillies): “Did Ellie Mae ever give you wood.”

And Evil David Letterman had me howling.

But still………not that I’m opposed to strippers or (hot) lesbians, but he has WAY TOO MANY on his show.

C’mon Ramdac. I started watching his show because I was curious, They had to blur body parts almost every show. The TV show is broken into one hour segments of his radio show, so I am sure they only so the sex parts on TV. There were just so many options to choose from. They way he degrades these women to show themselves is horrible. He will have porn star, they are quite willing to show the goodies, but he will have ordinary women on the show who are big fans of his, and makes fun of their bodies. You can almost see the hurt in some of the women’s faces. I have since stopped watching the show because I refuse to support him. I am hoping if enough poeple do it there wont be poeple like him on the air when my son gets older.

Howard Stern does have an agenda to make fun of the politcally correct poeple, which is pretty cool. However, he ruins it with is over the top style, and of course the show is way over sexed.

Well, these women go on the show willingly, I mean its their choice to be there and take their clothes off. The show does talk a lot about sex, but its not all about sex. In my opinion, the show can be funny or whatever, but sometimes its just dumb. Occassionally I watch or listen to it, but its not like “OMG, Stern is on, gotta flip over the station.” I don’t mind watching it, I think it is funny most of the time, but the stupid fart jokes and things, I find absolutely ignorant.

    Fart jokes are funny,

I realize the women are on by their choice. I doubt it is their choice to be humiliated.

He had a contest to find the ugliest women who had a great body. Some of these women want to be on the show with Howard Stern, and they get made fun of because they are either stupid or ugly. I realize they do know what kind of show it is, but that doesnt really make it right.

Joey, concerning the “TV show”…..yeah so his tv shows were a bit racy. OF course they are–its TV.
Those shows you see are taken from many different days sometimes. You’ve got to remember that he’s on the radio for 5 HOURS EVERY DAY!!!!

Thats really kinda awesome, that he is on the radio for that long. The radio show is better than the t.v. show for sure, but the fart jokes are stupid, I hate them.

I’ve never heard his radio show. Only the TV show. I imagine when I was 18 or 19 I would’ve thought it to be the best thing ever. Call it a sign of my age…. but the TV show was retarded. Virtually no coherent thought, no important conversation, most of the stuff was shocking… NOT funny. There was never a point except to make fun of people, ruin lives, break up couples, get people arrested, etc. I wonder if some people watched out of morbid curiosity or if they actually thought it was funny.

The few times I watched, I felt dumber for being exposed to it.

Well sirius radio is awesome. I am not sure if sirius or XM is better but Both are cool to me. I tend to listen to the radio a lot, especially 102.1 THE EDGE, but on Sirius and Xm they don’t play that station, so I mean, I would have to switch to another great station, or stay with the regular radio, I am definately an EDGE HEAD! Can’t switch, so it depends on which one will start playing The EDGE first XM, or Sirius??? I doubt they will ever, so I am stuck with the EDGE until they go off air.

    STERN is “irreplaceable”

    CNN News article link below:

Stern is awesome… and millions of viewers/listeners can testify to that!

Do they still air the Tom and Bob show every afternoon in Dallas on 105.3?

It’s been about five years since I was in Dallas on a weekday, but I seem to recall those guys, a local show, were more risque than Stern.

  16. ditto50997 said:

    October 22nd, 2005 at 2:26 pm

I think 105.3 is a country music station now.

  17. Chris said:

Oh…………it used to be all talk.

Guess things change in five years.

Probably switched frequencies with a sister station……….it was the same station airing Stern in the morning in Dallas.

In Monroe La., we had Whip and Chad on 106, but since leaving, I’ve heard Whip was fired and it’s now just Outlaw Radio with Chad.

As I recall from my many visits to Ruston, the North LA market’s radio stations suck ass. Waaay too much redneck banter, homemade commercials, etc. They need to hire some real talent down there. I know they have to cater to a particular crowd but there are lots of people that aren’t redneck down there. Jason and I are from there… are we redneck?

  19. Chris said:

I’m originally from Ruston, and while I have certain redneck tendencies, I’m not a redneck.

Next time you’re in Ruston/Monroe, listen to 106.1 in the weekday afternoon, and listen to Outlaw Radio.

It’s not as good as it once was, since Whip was fired, but it’s still better than anything else you’ll hear in North La.

I actually gave up listening to Rush Limbaugh for a time because the two hosts were so good.

Radio talent like that was a rarity in that part of the state.

Ever wonder to what extent it would hit the fan if a Monroe/Ruston station began broadcasting Howard Stern, LOL?

The D.A. in Lincoln Parish would probably file obscenity charges against the radio station owner.

Of course this is the same town that once took MTV off the air for almost 10 years, so it’s not at all unlikely.

106.1 also plays Bob and Tom in the morning. They are no where near Stern on the risque meter. They do joke about sex, but they promote alot of comedians. Both shows are defined as filth to some though. Howerd Stern wouldnt work in North LA. but Bob and Tom seems to work.

99.3 is ESPN radio now in Ruston, so that is really all I listen to now anyway.

The Whip and Chad show was pretty funny. They had a pretty good following, they have lost some because people were pissed about Whip getting fired.

It must not have been the Bob abd Tom Show I heard five years ago in Dallas, but something that sounded similar title-wise.

These guys I heard were talking about Dallas, and they were getting women to call in and talk about first time lesbian experiences, etc.

    Pretty strong sexual content.

I just don’t want to hear about that kind of stuff on the radio. What happens when my 6 year old gets old enough to make her listening decisions? I don’t want that filth in her head. Yes, we as adults certainly can decide not to listen and flip the channel. But our kids think that stuff is cool. We can’t be with them 24/7 to enforce they don’t listen to simulated sex or degredation of women, penis humour, blah blah. I’m fine with that stuff being on satellite. I’d be EXTRA fine if they’d take it all off the FM dial.

You’re all wrong. 105.3 does not play tom and bob, or whatever, and it is NOT a country station. It’s all talk radio now. Here is the lineup:

    Morning: Howard Stern
    Mid Day: Puggs and Kelly
    Drivetime: Russ Martin Show
    Evening: Tom Leykis
    Late night: Loveline

It’s a funny balance. This is Jason’s website which he works hard to maintain and can certainly close off a topic, but he also wants to see us posting comments and keep interest in his site going. Know what I mean?

Hope you liked the subliminal outbursts.

Okay so the more I think about it, the more I will miss Stern, but hey I can always listen to him with Jason. The radio is funny, and the t.v. show is a bit racy but, hey thats what get when you put a perverted old man on t.v.
