Houston couple sexually assault their own children

February 7th, 2005

Donna Marie Norman, 19, and her common-law husband, Ivan Castaneda, 21, of Houston, TX were arrested for sexually assaulting and critically injuring their 6 month old baby! Police say the baby also “suffered broken bones from head to toe, and had her tongue nearly severed.”

C.P.S. was called to take the children. (The baby’s 15 month old sister, also had a fractured skull and ribs). Spokeswoman (of C.P.S.) Estella Olguin said the baby had been sexually abused, had two broken legs, a broken arm, a fractured skull, a fractured vertebrae and a broken rib. Olguin said if the baby were to survive, there is a strong possibility that she could be both blind or paralyzed.

“Norman told doctors the infant’s tongue was severed when she tried to remove a quarter from the baby’s mouth that had been placed there by her 15-month-old sister”.

These two people are sick! Why would someone do this to their own children, or anyone else’s for that matter? I can’t even imagine what would cause someone to even think about, let alone act on abusing your child. I hope both these parents go to jail, stay in jail, and be forced to some form of psychiatric help. I don’t care if one of the parents didn’t aid in the abuse. Due to the fact that if they knew or even scensed that something was wrong, they shuld have gotten help. One is just as guilty as the other if you condone something that you know is wrong.

Given the nature of the crime, I think Texas could bend the rules, just a little, and make very good use of its ACTIVE death penalty system.

It is nearly impossible to even imagine doing something like that. These people are truly sick.

incomprehensable. how could even one parent partake in the abuse let alone a second join in or protect them instead of the helpless innocent six month old baby girl? how can someone be so protective of a mate and negligent of those that need their protection? i am so glad that the family has been denied the ability to see the children as they were the ones that raised those two white trash parents.

    Ivan Castaneda

I didnt realize that a Mexican would be called white trash. But it is good that the family isnt allowed to see the kids

Well anonymous, fortunately for you I’m not writing to entertain you, or anyone else being put to sleep by my “boring story”. I wrote about what I thought was important to share with this community… But I am sorry for your heartless response. Just because it doesn’t affect you doesn’t mean it won’t in some other form. Cases like these are important because, they prevent people from getting away with their crimes. I don’t understand how a person can’t at least say “thats sad”, rather than, “that puts me to sleep”. I’m sorry that children being abused and molested put you to sleep at night. You must have a Michael Jackson tape repeating for you at night to get some shut eye.

The ironic thing is . . . just a few months earlier they could have had the thing aborted and no one would have raised an eyebrow.

Yes, they could have, but many people don’t believe in abortion. This couple obviously has mental issues or else they wouldn’t have odne it twice. the baby also had a 15 month old sibling that had the same injuries.

Yes, I know . . . .my comment was tongue in cheek. I wanted to point out that while we all look at this as extremely terrible, many people don’t even think twice about the child when it is aborted.

First of all to JoshM: A baby is not a thing which could have been aborted. If you don’t want children then rather have them adobted by people that want children than abuse them.

Second of all Chris I think you have a good point but that would be a waste of tax money. They should just take both of them to the closest vet’s office and put them out like the dogs they are!

    Anonymous,

While I appreciate your passion, I ask you to look at the post right above yours. You’ll notice I completely agree with you and that what I said was merely tongue in cheek ;)

JoshM why do you keep saying “tongue and cheek” I don’t get its meaning… I’m a little confused, which probably isn’t very hard…

I think your saying it goes together tongue and cheek, but that saying doesn’t sound right to me.

    Um . . . . it means that I’m being facetious . . . . that I don’t mean what I’m saying.

BTW does anyone know how the baby is doing? Last I heard she was still in critical care but doing better. Moving her legs indicating that she was not completely paralized.

You can see the article here - the latest as of today February 17th. This whole story disturbs me - I feel SO bad for that baby!! How horrible - I had no idea it was even possible to rape a baby!! Her father needs to be skinned alive!!!!!!!!!! Terrible, terrible. Being the mother of a 6 month old baby girl, I just can’t imagine!!!!!!!!!! SICK SICK SICK!!

“The baby’s parents, Ivan Castaneda, 22, and Donna Marie Norman, 19, have been charged with injury to a child after doctors found the infant had been penetrated or raped vaginally and anally and her tongue nearly severed.”

Thanks for posting that website, I was wondering myself what was the babies condition. I’m glad she’s doing better.

Why is this not the lead story in the news? (this is a rhetoriacal Q)
How did NO ONE call the authorities during the 15 months these animals were ‘parents’…surely someone had an idea of what was happening to these poor children.
I am disgusted at this whole thing. Instead of policing the world and making welfare receipients of the rest of the world, why doesn’t this country take care of it’s own, obviously our own children are falling through the cracks.

I believe Texas should give them an “Eye for an Eye” conviction. Meaning they should have done to them what they did to these 2 innocent’s. But, wait, I am sure the prisoners are going to make these 2 idiots their new boyfriend/girlfriend. I hope they torture these morons.
