Abbas Cleans House. Reaffirms promise of peace

April 23rd, 2005

It looks as though Abbas is serious about peace in the Gaza strip and the greater area.

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has forced hundreds in Yasser Arafat’s security force to retire.
He also named three new heads for the security forces.

It is no secret that many people in Palestine and Israel have considered Arafat’s security forces to be corrupt and incompetent,
so this is a good move in the direction of peace.

Abbas even pushed out Yasser Arafat’s cousin. Abbas promised good pensions for those retiring, to dissuade revolt and to quell any opposition.

I think its great that Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has made such a reform. I believe that with pressure that we put on the country, has finally paid off with this new president. Maybe we might see peace in the middle east within our lifetime.

Now if only we’d put pressure on Israel every now and again.

Israel doesnt need pressure. They are pressured everyday from every single country that surrounds them. They have agreed to work with Palestine, and that is good enough. Israel has very few allies, I am proud to stay one. Remeber Hamas still hates Israel, and the People in the Middle East are manipulated by a corrupt Aljazzera that hates Israel also

Think about this stuff though . . . . . this “peace” requires people being forced to move from their homes and resettled. Sounds wonderful to me. I don’t know about you all, but I don’t like resettlement, no matter how it comes about or for whatever purpose.

And I don’t care what Abbas and others are saying, this peace will only be temporary. The terrorists will not be happy until Israel ceases to exist as a country.

Honestly, I want to know how Israel got the bad rap that it has got. Can someone tell me why Israel is seen as the bad guys and Hamas and as the good guys?

Does anyone honestly think peace in the Middle East can be fully achieved? I remain optimistic.. but there will definitely be a lot of eggs cracked to make THAT omelette.
