With God On Our Side -Bewick Cory

January 26th, 2005

We, as a Nation, should thank our lucky stars to have been chosen by the Almighty GOD himself to fulfill his prophecies and to carry out His handiwork upon this earth. I am in awe of the privilege which He has bestowed upon this Nation to reap His vengeance for Him upon His enemies and for giving us the leadership of George W. Bush, to whom He personally counsels and guides through these difficult times. How the Lord works His wonders! He picks a plain, moronic, imbecile and bestows upon him powers of Biblical proportions. The Lord gave the President an Angel in the guise of Karl Rove, to guide and watch over him, and to direct him in his conquest of the powers of evil, wherever they may hide and fester, into every tuck and corner of this world…into every desert where black gold flows beneath the sand. The Lord leads these great men into the “Last Days,” moving ever closer towards the nuclear holocaust which we as Americans have so desperately yearned. Oh, the day! When we are raptured from our sneakers and lifted to the Lord on high! God Himself has given this Nation a sign…the new Lamb of Judea…and that sign is George W. Bush. God gave unto him the gift of the Presidency by divine intervention via the Diebold voting machine and the pure magic of the Arc Angel Rove. The Nation has spoken! A Nation marches as one into Armageddon. An idiot leads us to our doom, and we shout…yay! We have God on our side!

Barbara Boxer’s Opening Statements for Condi Rice.

January 25th, 2005

Opening Statement of Senator Barbara Boxer at the Confirmation Hearing of Dr. Condoleezza Rice

January 18, 2005

I’d like to begin by welcoming Dr. Rice to this committee hearing.

It is my hope that today, we will have a candid discussion, Dr. Rice, because I believe it is crucial that a Secretary of State speak openly and honestly with the American people and with Congress. Frankly, this issue of candor is where my concern lies.

Since 9/11, we have been engaged in a just fight against terrorism. I voted to use force against Osama bin Laden and the terrorists in Afghanistan, and I assumed that we would focus on that challenge, not stopping until we got bin Laden, dead or alive, and broke the back of al Qaeda.

However, instead, with you in a lead role Dr. Rice, we went into Iraq. I want to read you one paragraph that best expresses my views, and the views of millions of Californians, on the impact of the Iraqi war on the war against terrorism. It was written by one of the world’s experts on terrorism and foreign policy, Peter Bergen, five months ago.

He wrote:

What we have done in Iraq is what bin Laden could not have hoped for in his wildest dreams: We invaded an oil-rich Muslim nation in the heart of the Middle East, the very type of imperial adventure that bin Laden has long predicted was the United States’ long-term goal in the region. We deposed the secular socialist Saddam, whom bin Laden has long despised, ignited Sunni and Shia fundamentalist fervor in Iraq, and have now provoked a “defensive” jihad that has galvanized jihad-minded Muslims around the world. It’s hard to imagine a set of policies better designed to sabotage the war on terrorism.

This conclusion was reiterated last Thursday by the National Intelligence Council, the CIA Director’s think tank, which released a report saying that Iraq has replaced Afghanistan as the training ground for the next generation of “professionalized” terrorists. NIC Chairman Robert L. Hutchings said that Iraq is “a magnet for international terrorist activity.”These quotations are significant to this hearing, Dr. Rice, because as a major proponent and spokesperson for the war in Iraq, and as someone who was asked by the President to make the case for this war to the American people, and as the person in charge of the reconstruction effort– you have many questions to answer to the American people.

This war was sold to the American people– as Chief of Staff to President Bush, Andy Card said– like a “new product.” You rolled out the idea and then you had to convince the people, and as you made your case, I personally believe that your loyalty to the mission you were given overwhelmed your respect for the truth.

That was a great disservice to the American people. But worse than that, our young men and women are dying. So far, 1,366 American troops have been killed in Iraq. More than 25 percent of those troops were from California. More than 10,372 have been wounded.

I don’t want their families to think for a minute that their lives and bodies were given in vain. Because when your commander in chief asks you to sacrifice yourself for your country, it is noble to answer the call. I am giving their families all the support that they want and need, but I will also not shrink from questioning a war that was not built on the truth.

Perhaps the most well known statement you have made was the one about Saddam Hussein launching a nuclear weapon on America, with the image of a “mushroom cloud.” That image had to frighten every American into believing that Saddam Hussein was on the verge of annihilating them if he was not stopped.

I will be placing into the record a number of other such statements which have not been consistent with the facts nor the truth.

As the nominee for Secretary of State, you now must answer to the American people through the confirmation process.

I continue to stand in awe of our founders, who understood that ultimately, those of us in the highest positions of our government, must be accountable to the people we serve.

“CULT OF DEATH” - Bewick Cory

January 21st, 2005

America has a grim fascination with death. Especially military death; war death. Death is taken to heart with religious and patriotic pageantry. The Cult of Death. Military sacrifice is woven into every fiber of our Nation’s being. It’s heart beats to the drums of war; its blood pumps to the call of Patriotism. We idolize war. We hold it to our bosom as a friend to be cherished and nurtured - protected, and unleashed.

Beyond the personal tragedy, to have a young man die while performing his “duty” in time of war is to be considered of the highest honor. Our pride, our heritage, our finest moments seem to stem from war - its tragedies and fruits - our sense of who we are as a Nation. From the American Revolution to the present, we measure ourselves against our last great conflict. One of our most deadly and bloody wars was fought right here on home ground, between ourselves. Apparently there wasn’t any foreign soil worth bleeding on at the time. Passions ran high, words were said, lines were drawn, and it would have to do. The all too real blood, guts, fear, pain, suffering, and death are transformed into honor, nobility, courage, and everlasting life immortal. After enough blood sacrifice has been made, and truce has been called, peace has been made, and war has been ended, we go about our business as though not much of anything has happened. Enemies become friends, treaties are made, business resumes, all is forgiven (almost).

We immediately go about memorializing: making tributes, giving speeches, flying flags, organizing parades…and oh, don’t forget the cemeteries: The centerpiece of all worship. The beautifully manicured cemeteries. The grass is mowed, the flowers set…the Temple is open for worship: Memorial Day, USA. This is the day we honor the memory (for that is all that is left) of all the sacrificed men and women who once proudly wore the uniform. A proud tradition passed on from generation to generation - with each generation left to make its own war, lest they be cheated from taking their place in the tradition of honor and pageant, and glory be to God above. Each generation must make this blood sacrifice or be excluded in shame, real or imagined, from the celebration of the Cult of Death. A National purpose is served by inclusion in the Rite. Worship without inclusion rings hollow on the generational soul.

A generation disgraced by the lack of blood letting is a wasted generation at best. How can such a generation hold their heads high as the flags pass and the marching bands play? They are doomed to silent humiliation by former generations who have shed their blood willingly and profusely for our Nation’s honor. This morning as I watched the news, our war dead had just topped the 1,000 mark. The words which rang down from Capitol Hill: “Remember, honor, and mourn.” Of course we will remember, and honor, and mourn…but there is something much deeper running here. Something touching on the unsavory.

Honor. A word raised up like the Most High in Heaven. Honor. Duty. Pride. Death. Our National religion summed up in four words. Four words which make us who we are.

Pick your nose. No really, do it.

January 14th, 2005

According to a top Austrian doctor, picking your nose and eating it is one of the best ways to stay healthy! He says, that we should be encouraging our children to pick their noses and eat it… “Dr Bischinger said: “With the finger you can get to places you just can’t reach with a handkerchief, keeping your nose far cleaner… and eating the dry remains of what you pull out is a great way of strengthening the body’s immune system.” Apparently eating from your nose would work just like a pill when it arrived in the intestines. Should we all forget what our parents have taught us? After making so many, have they made another bad judgement call?

I find this to be very discusting! Anyone who does this is weird in my opinion, but then again what you don’t know can’t hurt you. I guess? I wouldn’t be able to get over it if anyone told me that about themselves.

There are bigger fish to fry

January 10th, 2005

I’m continually hearing that the Democrats should attack the people who promote “Republican Values” as phonies, hypocrites, and liars.

How in the world can they? They float in the same boat. Kiss ass at the same parties, and live high on the hog with their own Socialism
paid for by us, but most of all, they believe in the same Religion: Power, Greed and Greenbacks. The Democrats up on el grande Hill have
laid down like whipped dogs, tucking their tails between their legs and begging for an offered scrap. Don’t look to them for answers or help. Sure, there might be a few here and there, but instead of being backed up by their own, they are told to back down. Kerry went to
Baghdad this January: “I’m here to make judgments about what moves are available to us.” What a joke. He’s going to tell Bush and his band of NeoCon Hombres what to do about Iraq? He’s got the power of a floundering fish. Unless the world turns upside down, and grass starts growing on the poles and he is sworn in as President instead of Cowpoke George on January 20. . .well, you get the picture. This is Fascist
America now folks. Get in the swing. Get comfortable. . .Relax-Ay-Voo. Get used to it. Until it gets so damn bad that folks can’t bear another minute and take up arms, you’re going to have to live with it. If we’re lucky, the Idiot Cowboy, the Smirking Monkey, the Shrubulator will self-destruct, and I think he might, but…it’s not all about Bush. It’s the NeoCons who have grabbed the power. The
NeoCons pull the strings, the Idiot Cowboy just grinds his jaw, smirks, quips, winks, points, and does his dance. Once the top positions have been filled with the shakers, the movers, the new Reich - with the help of the Democrats who put them there without a cry, a whimper,
and nary a protest, the country’s fate will be sealed, for a good long while to come. The PEOPLE of this country let this happen. All wrapped up in ourselves and our possessions - big screen TV’s and video games, the newest big boy toys, the newest cars and endless mindless
pursuits. No time for anyone but ME. Fill our brains up with trash and laugh at the truth. Fill our bodies with the good times of dope and booze. Fill each other with incurable sexual maladies, as we mindlessly hump away the boredom. Brains are for computers and making
money…NOT for thinking, analyzing, smelling the air to see what’s burning over yonder. It’s a lost society. The kind of society that Fascists lick their lips for. A dream come true. How they’ve been waiting. They’ve been patient, I’ll give them that. They have what
they’ve been lusting for. There is essentially ONE PARTY now. What do the NeoCons say? “The Democratic party is a Party of the past.”
They’ve got that one nailed on the head. They did what the Democrats failed to do…Understand the American Public and take advantage of the gift while they had the chance. Timing is everything. You can be behind the times. You can be ahead of the times. The pure marketable
truth is…You have to BE ON TIME. And that they were. Period. Karl Rove understood what many didn’t. He didn’t underestimate the American public. He sized it up for what it was worth: Shot it, skinned it, and nailed it’s sorry hide to the wall. Where does that leave
us, the folks who smelled the scam, fought the fight, and heard the truth? Up shit creek my friends…up shit creek without a paddle. The Idiot Cowboy is dismantling our Social Security, screwing over our Health Care, killing our kids, poisoning our world, forgetting our
elderly, and the list goes on. To those on the fringe. . .The problems have gone beyond saving the spotted owl, wearing fur, and building homes on the edge of the forest. There are bigger fish to fry. Our country is under attack. The owls and seals can wait. We are losing
our country, our freedom, and everything that so many have worked so hard for over the past 100 years. Losing may be too loose a word…how about going, going…GONE.

Early detection of bioterrorism

January 9th, 2005

Apparently an invention has been made that can detect bioterrorism!

The Autonomous Pathogen Detection System, or APDS, continuously monitors the air like a “biological smoke detector”. Buildings such as airports will be equipped with this APDS system and would identify three types of biological agents: bacteria, viruses and toxins, including such familiar threats as anthrax, plague and botulinum toxin.

It’s the same thing done in a laboratory but without the paid employees. Furthermore, the machine does not take just one test, but two! This is inorder to protect the facility from a false alarm. The APDS would detect symptoms before the person even knew they had the infection, making viruses such as bird flu and SARS a fear of the past. No need for worry while in travel from one nation to another.

If the APDS were really to come to market and function as it should, what problems should we see from this? After all, an invention seems great in theory but actuall use of it varies. Just as Medications like Vioxx proved to us, testing should be painstakingly accurate with careful thorough research.

Powell is Pooped Out with Politics

January 2nd, 2005

colin powell
Colin Powell wants out. He’s retiring from politics.
He was questioned on talk shows today on whether or not he would seek an elected office.
He responded with a firm “No”. He says he also doesn’t plan to write any books in the near future.

I remember when Powell was chosen to be George W. Bush’s Secretary of State. I also remember Powell saying he would only stay with Bush for one term.
Apparently he made a deal with his wife to only run one term.
It looks as if the American people want him in office more than he himself wants in. (Isn’t that the way it should be?)

I have much respect for Powell and I’ll be sad to see him go, but I’m sure he needs a break from politics. The Washington of today isn’t the Washington he knew when he started.

Powell said he would most likely devote his time, after retiring, to efforts for underprivileged children with regard to education
After retiring, Powell said “I wouldn’t be surprised if working in the field of mentoring or education or something like that does not appear on my calendar”.
