This may or may not cause you concern…

September 22nd, 2004

We’d like to give a warm hand to Yusuf Islam (formerly known as Cat Stevens) . Welcome to the War on Peace Activists, a wholly owned subsidary of the War on Dissent.

For those who haven’t heard, the former singer was denied entry to the US and deported, for allegedly giving money to organizations that may or may not have ties to terror.

We here at ramdac.org have a couple other possible theories:

1) Ashcroft may or may not be deporting anyone who can sing better than him.

2) Bush may or may not be confusing Yusuf Islam with the name of an actual terrorist. He kinda has trouble keeping names straight these days.

3) The Bush administration may or may not be concerned that if they don’t look like they’re busy keeping terrorists out, we may make the “wrong choice” on election day.

My brain may or may not hurt. :(

well i tell you what, i’d have banned cat stevens long before now, boy howdy. his music is just chock full of that islamic propaganda and he writes nothing but anthems of hate and destruction. i mean, how could any deny the underlying evil in songs like “peace train” and “father and son?”

Who the hell is this guy, anyway?

I’ve never even heard of him.

Then again, I don’t keep up with the Joan Baez/ Garrison Keiler crowd.

I believe Cat Stevens wrote those songs, not Mr. Islam.

I dont know if Islam is a bad guy, but He is on the watch list for a reason. I dont care if he is deported or not.

Cat STevens was told he was living the wrong kind of life by the nation of Islam. He was a songwriter about peace, and he was living wrong, so what is the right way.

well, him being converted to islam isn’t any different than our christian missionaries going to other countries and, essentially, telling people in lands afar that they’re living the wrong lives and worshipping the wrong god. “mr islam” is just an example of some other religion snagging a christian, as opposed to vice versa.

so… yeah. all you really have to go on is what you personally believe in as far as what the “right” way is.

Being converted to Islam is different because Christianity and Islam are very different. I am not imply which believe is right, just that the religions are vastly different.

how is it different in principle? each has their own unique set of beliefs and morals and obligations, and each wants to spread its beliefs and ideals. religion is religion pretty much any way you cut it.

Religous discussions are a whole different issue.
I have read the Bible, and a good protion of the Quran. There are fundamental differences with the way that Bible and the Quran deal with people who believe differently. The Bible says the Devil will judge, and the Quran was the poeple of Islam should judge. THere are many other differences, but the two really are comparable.

I know that the goal of both is to convert people to a certain religion , but to disregard the tatics used is not really fair.

Ok. Obviously Islam and Christianity are different. They do have one similarity — they’re both faith based religions.

Let’s move onto the fact that Cat was deported because of “possibilities” that he gave money to “possible” suspect groups.

Read this about Islam’s response to being deported.

    Here’s an exerpt:

“The whole thing is totally ridiculous. Everybody knows who I am, you know, I’m no secret figure. Everybody knows my campaigning for charity, for peace. And there’s got to be a whole lot of explanations. Hopefully there will be that.”

When asked if he was being victimized, he said “absolutely,” then added, “but you know people make mistakes.”

“I just hope they’ve made a big mistake.”

    Ok back on subject then:

If he gave money to a terrorist organization and knew that is what they were using it for, then he should be in jail. If he didnt know what they were using it for, then deportation should do the trick. He can still be a peacful man (I actually believe he still is), but we must protect ourselves first. I am sure if it is proven he didnt give money to a terrorist group, then he will be allowed back in the greatest country in the World

He was giving money to a charity that MAY have connections to terrorism, but they don’t know that for sure. They suspect, but they can’t prove anything. I’m not sure where this charity is located, but if it’s in the US or Britian, I would assume they would shut it down and bring charges against individuals, if they could prove their claims. This seems to fit in perfectly with the Bush administration’s pattern of abusing power to silence dissent.

So you believe that Mr. Islam couldnt get into the United States because the Bush Adminstration wanted to silence dessent. Isnt deporting him making a louder sound than just letting him in. I mean does anyone really care about Cat Stevens anymore anyway. I imagine that if he would have been allowed in, it wouldnt have been on all these major news outlets.

Just maybe the Bush Adminstration isnt letting him in because he might have bad intentions.

maybe W was afraid cat was coming here to record a comeback album loaded with anti-american dissent.

    har.

thank god that isn’t the reality of it, otherwise like, 3/4 of my favorite bands would probably be shitlisted.

    Or Waylon Jennings perhaps?

No wonder I’ve never heard of him!

go national security! i wouldn’t say anything if it weren’t for the fact that this isn’t the first time this has happened. i can’t recall who it was right off the top of my head, but some US representative or high official’s name kept showing up on the no-fly list due to some error not too long ago.

Ted Kennedy kept showing up on the No-Fly list at the beginning of this year.
Well, It actually just happened twice if I remember right.

Couldnt happen to a better guy though.
