Shepard Smith makes a booboo!

June 23rd, 2004
Shepard Smith says a bad wordShepard Smith let out a doozy the other day, and I have it here for all to see. In the world of talking heads he’s probably the #2 guy in news. He’s been called the “second most trusted” anchor in the news. After watching The J-Lo video you might rethink his position.

I’m sure he didn’t mean to say what he said and I’m sure he was VERY embarrassed.

No worries Joey.
If I find someone at CNN doing something like this, I’ll post it here. I
wouldn’t want you thinking I like to pick on the only "fair and
balanced" news network out there.

I actually thought it was quite funny. Like you said he didnt mean to say it, and I am sure he is emabarrassed. Slip ups happen everyday, I dont think it is a big deal. Surely you arent saying that this discredits him as a news anchor.

Ramdac, If someone on CNN does this I will think is funny then as well.

Nah, it doesn’t discredit him, I just don’t think he’s as trusted as he was before, if even just .0001 %. I’msure it’d never happen again.

I didnt know trust was the key issue. I mean who can you trust in that field. For instance, Dan Rather doesnt even pretend anymore what side he is on. The anchors are entertainers.

I never said trust was the key issue.

I’m surprised you hadn’t seen this quite a while ago. After all, I think that song was released over two years ago. I had seen this clip several times and it never ceases to make me giggle like a 14 y/o boy in sex-ed…lol

Okay, I’m in the print journalism business, but I have spent some time in TV news studios, and know that Smith, like every other anchorman or woman, was reading from a teleprompter.

    This wasn’t his fault!

He said most of the word and then stopped himself before saying it entirely.

Someone snuck that in……..probably as a joke, or to embarass him…..and after that particular newscast, that someone probably got fired (notice how Shep sternly says “it won’t happen again”)

    Even he seemed surprised!

I find it hard to believe that someone working for FOX would slip something like that in the copy/teleprompter. I think it was just a mental slip.

He was saying “curb job” and thinking J-Lo. when thinking “Lo” and saying “job” what words come to mind? … yeah…. that’s what I thought too.

This wasn’t his fault…it was just a slip.

I am thinking no one slipped in that phrase. I dont think anyone is to blame, it was just a slip. He seemed upset because he knew democrats would try to make him look bad.

Heh. what do democrats have anything to do with a story about J-Lo?

    Hey..Janet Jackson bared her boob!
Dick Cheney cursed on the Senate floor..and said he felt better afterwards.
What is wrong with a healthy man wanting a bj from J-Lo and slipping up a bit? hahahah j/k of course. BUT…I did laugh when I viewed it. :P Guess that is my disturbed sense of humor.
