Patriot act ruled Unconstitutional
Finally, someone is doing something about the Patriot Act.
A federal judge has declared unconstitutional a portion of the USA Patriot Act that bars giving expert advice or assistance to groups designated foreign terrorist organizations.
The ruling marks the first court decision to declare a part of the post-Sept. 11 anti-terrorism statute unconstitutional, said David Cole, a Georgetown University law professor who argued the case on behalf of the Humanitarian Law Project.
In a ruling handed down late Friday and made available Monday, U.S. District Judge Audrey Collins said the ban on providing “expert advice or assistance” is impermissibly vague, in violation of the First and Fifth Amendments.
“The USA Patriot Act places no limitation on the type of expert advice and assistance which is prohibited and instead bans the provision of all expert advice and assistance regardless of its nature,” the judge said.
Cole declared the ruling “a victory for everyone who believes the war on terrorism ought to be fought consistent with constitutional principles.”

Ramdac, if you keep this stuff up about the patriot act, then Moveon.com is gonna put you on as a sponsor for their web site. You maybe investigated by the FBI under the guidelines of the patriot act.

Nah, they wouldn’t want me. I’m not political enough for those people.
Oh and about the FBI, I’ve already got my full fingerprints in an envelope for them. I’m *GIVING* them my information.
Its the price I pay being a law-abiding citizen.

I’m not. What are you talking about?

Nothing Illegal Lillie. I was reading over it and it sounds that way. Ramdac will have to tell you though, I dont want to infringe on his civil liberties

Ha, that’s the perfect response, Joey

HAHA, joey you crapface!
Its not like you’re disclosing state secrets or anything.
Lillie, I applied to take advantage of act 419 of Arkansas state law which permits me to carry a concealed weapon (gun).
Not that I think I’ll ever have to use it, and I hope I don’t, but I am exercising my 2nd amendment right to carry….what with all the other infringements of my liberties going on. I figure I better do it now before its unlawful for anyone to protect themselves with lethal force.

Lillie, I have no problem with someone going through the process and getting a license to carry a concealed weapon. I too am for the 2nd amendment.
Ramdac, remember alot of CLinton backers are against it

Hmm, sounds interesting. I don’t even know if you can do that in Louisiana or not. I’m all about protecting the 2nd Amendment, along with all the other ones, as well. That’s why I’m just a little relieved about this ruling on the Patriot Act. I wonder how it will play out.

Yeah, you can do it in just about any state, some states have real strict rules about it though.
The Ruling on the Patriot Act didnt change the law that much, it just makes a minor difference in the amount of help the accused can have
