Mom sues Coors over son’s death

April 18th, 2004

What happened to taking responsibility for one’s action? We’ve lately become a country wrought with frivolous lawsuits, and we’ve become quite a litigous nation. I’m damned sick of it.

Jodie Pisco of Reno is suing Coors over her son’s death in an accident. Her son, 19 years of age, drank Coors at a party and decided, rather stupidly, to take his girlfriend’s car out for a ride. He then ran that car into a pole and killed himself.

Drinking + car = death. This isn’t rocket science.

Jodie contends that Coors has failed in its duty to protect the country’s youth from drinking.

LAME.

Her suit accuses Coors of “glorifying a culture of youth, sex, and glamour while hiding the dangers of alcohol abuse and addiction”.

You know what? Our country seems to be glorifying a culture of irresponsibility, shitheadedness, and idiocy. Hey, I’m sorry for the death of her son, but Coors didn’t shove a beer in his hand. Neither did it point a gun to his drunk head and make him drive a car. He decided to do this all on his own.

Hey dumbass–PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY– Look it up.

Yeah. Well I think it’s different. The tobacco industry had Camel Joe. A cartoon. I can see how an argument might be that they were targeting children. Liquor, targeting children? I don’t think so.

While I don’t doubt that Coors glorifies drinking with women, what the fuck? What kind of time and effort did you put in to teaching your kids growing up?

I’d venture to say you did not put in ANY time or effort what-so-ever.

Had you put time an effort in, your son wouldn’t be dead due to your stupidity, and your lack of common fucking sense.

If anyone should be sued, and put in jail, It’s Jodie Pisco, for not employing some sort of sense of judgement in her son.

Ramdac, Alcohol Companies have advertisments with good looking ppl on them. I am sure that is too appeal to young drinkers, but it simply isnt the point. It is not the Coors responsiblity nor is it the resposibilty of Tobacco companies. I hate Cigarettes, I know what they would do to me. But so does the other poeple who do it.

I agree that people need to start taking responsibility instead of blaming it on others. There are some things in life you have no control over. But these days parents don’t want to take time to actually raise their kids, and then they want to blame someone else when they don’t like the way things turn out. Then again, people can’t blame everything on their parents all the time, either. There comes a point where it’s just your own damned fault. (I’m using damned here in the literal, not the expletive, sense). I’m sure that the guy had been informed at some point during his life that drinking and driving is not a very good idea. He took his life into his own hands.

By the way, if this lady wanted “justice” for her son’s death, why go after the rich corporation who really had no control over who purchased their product instead of the ones who supplied the kid with the beer and then let him drive away?

I couldnt have said it better myself.
Take for isntance the 911 commission dying to blame someone for the events that happened. It wasnt Bush or Clinton who “allowed” 911 to happen it was terrorists.

People will do whatever they possibly can to make some money in this country. This is a prime example of that.

Personally, I’d love to see the Coors company suffer, because:

    A) They make astoundingly bad beer
    B) They support conservative causes

HOWEVER, this is yet another in a long string of frivolous lawsuits, and should be summarily chucked right out of court.

Craiger, I have yet to try a beer I like.
    Everyone should support Conservative causes.

    absolutely Frivolous!

Joey, what’s wrong with you? Not a single beer at all?

Here’s a few light ones you might want to try…:

Corona +lime. (try this mexican salsa and chips)
Negra Modello or Dos Equis. (again, with a lime).
Boulevard makes a wheat beer that’s quite good. Look it up.

Joey, I’ve always felt that people who say they don’t like beer just haven’t found the right one yet. There is a HUGE spectrum of styles & flavors (far more than wines for example), so it’s really just a matter of sampling enough until you find something you like. My mother claimed she didn’t like beer either until she tried a Young’s Double Chocolate Oatmeal Stout

Obviously I’m a beer geek, so I won’t hijack this thread to pimp the glories of beer ;-)

As for supporting conservative causes…let’s just say that I definitely lean more liberal, so I try to avoid giving right-wingers more money than they already have;-)

    Different strokes.

Thats for the advice on beer Craiger, I guess I need to venture away from the staples of the industry.

This country is better because we have both liberals and conservatives. Really the only ppl who make me mad are the ones that dont care.
and of course poeple like Al Franken
