10 Reasons to Boot Bush

October 21st, 2004

Ted Rall, cartoonist
Ted Rall has an interesting article on yahoo entitled “THE CASE AGAINST BUSH: Ten Reasons America Needs a Change”.

Some of these I agree with, some not at all. I even decided to exclude on of them.
You decide.

1.  He stole the election.

As a federal court, the five runaway Supreme Court justices had no right to agree to hear the case. Under our system of government, elections–and election disputes–fall under state jurisdiction. Their decision to take the case, the way they fixed the outcome in Bush’s favor, and Bush’s willingness to assume the presidency extraconstitutionally are outrages that no patriotic American, even if they agree with his policies, can forgive.

2.  He politicized 9/11.

Bush used 9/11 to push for the USA Patriot Act, fast-track signing authority on free trade, tax cuts for the wealthy, lax regulations for polluters and a multitude of items from the partisan Republican Party wish list.

3.  He let the terrorists get away while giving them a payraise.

Read writer’s description regarding this… it sounded to me like conspiracy theory stuff, but it might have merit. Either way, I don’t know.

4.   He murdered nearly 100,000 people.

he war in Afghanistan killed at least 10,000 civilians and 20,000 Afghan soldiers (of which 10,000 were POWs allegedly massacred by Northern Alliance soldiers as U.S. Special Forces troops supervised the slaughter.)

5.  He bankrupted the treasury.

After two expensive wars of aggression and two series of extravagant tax cuts for the ultrarich–including the elimination of inheritance taxes on multimillionaires’ estates–the federal budget is facing a $5 trillion shortfall.

6.  He threw thousands of innocent people into concentration camps.

Writer calls Guantanimo a modern-day “gulag archipelago” (scattered, forced prisons for political dissidents).

7.  We are more feared than Al Qaeda.

Bush’s radical new policy of “preemption” has terrorized then international community.

8.  Bush has done nothing to improve the economy.

He favors high unemployment as a way to keep labor weak and salaries cheap. A Bush victory would ensure more of the same.

9.  Bush will appoint the next Supreme Court justice.

Whether they’re values issues like abortion or gay marriage, or the next election dispute, the Supreme Court is balanced on the razor’s edge between reason and right-wing fascism.

As the title suggests, there are 10 reasons we should boot Bush. However, I didn’t feel #10 was at all fair to President Bush. Therefore, I have excluded it from this list. If you want to see what it is, you’ll need to read the article in full on yahoo. I won’t post it here.

…And don’t worry. I’m going to post something similar to this article about Kerry. Just give me time to find one. I’m sure it won’t take long.

    1. All proper reason has now show Bush won the election. All counts down show Bush had more votes chads or no chads. Especially since Rather declared Florida a Gore state before all polls were closed.

    2. 9/11 is very political, because it was so tragic to this country.

    3. Well,.. This one is just stupid.

    4. Almost 4000 innocent Americans died in the World Trade Center. This fact is very real to the people who lost someone on that day. This is also very different than poeple who died at war.

    5. Only real agruement in the whole story, But two wars did cause this current deficit.

    6. I guess you can say innocent people, if you consider Terrorist innocent people. These so called “Concentration Camps” are better than cutting innocent people’s heads off.

    7. I dont think Russia fears us, but you can bet your ass they fear the terrorists. The countries that fear us right now should fear us.

    8. Economy - The current unemployment rates is at 5.2 which is as low as it has been since like 1996. The economy was on a slide before Bush took office and his aggresive tax cuts have helped revive the Economy. Ted Rall should take an Economic Class.

    9. I want Bush to Appoint the Supreme Court Justice. Activist Liberal Justices dont care what the majority of Americans want.

Ramdac, I am very disappointed. This Ted Rall character is the Dumbass who call Pat Tillman an Idiot in a polictical Cartoon you posted, Remeber. I pretty much think he is scum. IF you are gonna put something that Bashes Bush, use someone who is respected.

“Whether they’re values issues like abortion or gay marriage, or the next election dispute, the Supreme Court is balanced on the razor’s edge between reason and right-wing fascism.”

Since when did basic common sense in this country become labeled fasicst thought?

Has anybody seen “Team America” yet?

“We are more feared than Al Qaeda.”

    Good!!!!

We don’t want the respect of the international community……we just want to put the fear of God (or Alla) into them!

” Bush has done nothing to improve the economy.”

Bull! Bush gave me a very generous tax cut last year, meaning that money was spent as I see fit, and wasn’t wasted on some stupid social program.

“Bush will appoint the next Supreme Court justice.”

    I hope so……

“He threw thousands of innocent people into concentration camps.”

I’d feel safer in a prison cell with Charles Manson that with some of these so-called innocents.

    “He bankrupted the treasury.”
If we’d get rid of these damned social programs, some of that money would be freed up.

    “He murdered nearly 100,000 people.
Does he have ANY concrete evidence to back that up?

    “He politicized 9/11.”
Okay…….If Al Gore or another Democrat were in office, they NEVER would have politicized 9/11……..NEVER, NEVER, NEVER (sarcasm)

    “He stole the election”
My boy won fair and square. Maybe he got 1 million fewer votes than Gore, but he won according to the electoral college rules. Bush won recount after recount after recount.

Bill Clinton, President Bush and J Kerry all have something in common… they are all blue bloods. President Bush and Kerry are both related to an Essex Man who is related to the Windsors and so was Bill Clinton.

Just thought you should know, it was covered in the english newspaper The Gaurdian, but maybe not in yours. Soon after publication *on the net* it was changed to a more acceptable cut down version, which just said they are related, but not who too.

Get illuminated You Americans before your time runs out.

Still waiting for a Kerry list.

One opens with the tone of whining about the political process (they throw stones in a glass house with thousands of bogus voter registrations) and end with outright slander of the President exposing the shallowness of the values he looks for in a leader. (I got an idea, we could have America pick the next president by having a reality tv show.)

Sorry but most of the points are not even criticisms but exaggerations made in contempt.

Each point is so thick with spin that anyone that takes them at face value is of detriment to the political process ans should stay home on Tuesday.

This is the same Ted Rall who called the widows of the pilots who died on 9/11 “Terror Whores”, labeled Condoleezza Rice “Bush’s Nigga”, said U.S. troops were indistinguishable from the “SS”, and called Pat Tillman a “dumb jock”. He’s deranged and has no credibility.

You know, I think ill of the people who burn down abortion clinic, but I wouldn’t mind too much if Ted Rall were caught in an abortion clinic while someone decided to burn it down….. not that the two are connected in anyway….i’m just saying… I wouldn’t mind if he got toasted.
