Visions of World War Two
Visions
of World War Two
Charles Grissom, band director at
Paris High School in Paris Texas, led his band on a show called "Visions of
World War Two".
In it, was a performance of a composition by Franz Joseph Haydn that later
became known as “Deutschland Uber Alles.” that featured a student running
across the field waiving the Nazi flag.
Leave it to the media organizations to spin this in a negative light–anything
for ratings eh? How the hell was Grissom to know that it was Rosh Hashana?
Who gives a fat rat’s ass? The Jews weren’t the only ones that died in World War
II. It’s not like he was giving a Pro-Hitler show. The show also
included the flags and music of France, Britain, Japan and the United States.
The flags were raised in intervals that corresponded with the music of the
nations. An announcement over loudspeakers before the performance explained the
school was trying to do a "historical, accurate depiction of the
event." Just because our nation as a whole hates what Hitler did,
there’s no sense in suppressing history or pretending like what happened
didn’t. This guy shouldn’t be criminalized for what he did and I am appalled
that his school didn’t stand behind his artistic ideas. Yay Mr. Grissom, Boo
Paris School District.
Now, Grissom said the show will only include the American flag. “The kids and
myself, we caused a reaction, and we certainly didn’t mean to,” he told the
Dallas Morning News. “We’ll use it as a learning situation.”
That should be all he would have had to say. There needed to be no
justification for his "actions". He was putting together a
harmless show. He wasn’t trying to piss of the Jewish, the ACLU, or the
anti defamation league. He was trying to put together an history-related
half-time show. I have advice for people– Chill the F**K out.
