Better not mess with Clark

Associated Press

DERRY, N.H. — Moments after praising his opponents in the Democratic presidential race as worthy running mates, Wesley Clark said, in no uncertain terms, how he would respond if they or anyone else criticized his patriotism or military record.

“I’ll beat the shit out of them,” Clark told a questioner as he walked through the crowd after a town hall meeting Saturday. “I hope that’s not on television,” he added.

It was, live, on C-SPAN.

The campaign’s traveling press secretary, Jamal Simmons, was with Clark at the time.

“If anyone tries to question Wes Clark’s character, integrity or his commitment to this country or its security, they’re going to be in the biggest fight they’ve ever had,” Simmons said.

People (especially politicians) need to be very mindful of the things they say in public - on tape or not. It’s like that old saying, “If you can’t say anything nice… Say a bunch of nice shit and smile,” or something like that…

it doesn’t bother me a bit that he says he’d beat the shit out of anyone questioning his patriotism. if i’d spent the better part of my life in the military defending my country or whatever, and other people started talking about how i’m not patriotic just to make themselves look like a better candidate, i’d be pissed off too. get ‘em, clark.

This is all that is wrong with politics. I agree with Mirvae that Clark has the right to very upset about someone questioning his patriotism. The politics is what should be in question. I hate to sound like Howard Dean, but the issues should be what matters the most. But what does he know, he said all those who support the confederate flag is ignorant and a racist. Oooooh i bet the Ole Miss Rebels were pissed off. Almost all politicians are gonna say something stupid eventually, so if you are gonna say something wrong make it early

Don’t you think if you say something stupid early on you discredit yourself out of the gates? I don’t know about you but I’d rather say something stupid after I’ve made it into the oval office rather than on the campaign trail.

well, if are determined to say something stupid, do it in your second term in office. Or if you waited that long just wait to you get out of office
